With costs rising across the board right now, millions of people are trying to save money in any way they can. Inflation is now at a 40-year high in the UK rising into double figures of 10.1%, and the UK is set to enter a recession this year with ballooning costs across energy, supermarkets, fuel and more.
With internet costs just one of the household bills seeing a hike in price, finance website Money Saving Expert has revealed how you could save on your monthly internet bill by availing of cheaper rates. There are some great deals right now which could see you pay less than £16 per month on your broadband – but you need to be quick to grab them.

According to the Money Saving Expert website, BT is currently offering its 50Mb fast fibre broadband-only deal at its cheapest rate since August 2021. BT is charging £26.99/month for broadband only but you can claim a £25 Amazon, Tesco or Currys voucher and an £80 prepaid Mastercard. Factor those in and it’s equivalent to £22.62/month over the two-year contract. For a phone line it’s an extra £5/month. You do need to get the deal by Thursday August 25 though.
Vodafone is currently offering the cheapest superfast fibre at £22/month but you can claim a £150 Amazon, Tesco, Sainsbury’s or M&S voucher. If you’d have spent there anyway, factor that in and it’s equivalent to £15.75/month over the two-year contract. That deal is available until this Friday.
For cheap fibre, Shell Energy charges £20.99/month for broadband and line, but with the deal you get a £65 bill credit within 90 days. Factor that in and it’s equivalent to £15.58/month over the 12-month contract. For cheapest standard speed dial, you can apply using a link for Shell Energy and you’ll pay £4.95 for set-up, then £17.99/month for broadband and line. But you can claim a £100 Amazon gift card too. If you’d have spent there anyway, factor that in and it’s equivalent to £12.71/month over the 18-month contract. All links to the deals are available on the above Money Saving Expert link.
