Martin Lewis revealed a bizarre way to save money on airport baggage fees when you’re off on holiday.
The Money Saving Expert was speaking on his ITV show Extreme Savers, and featured the tip from Lee Cimino from Stoke-on-Trent.
The jet-setter revealed he has saved lots over the years – by wearing all of his luggage in a specially adapted coat.
Martin revealed he had bought one himself – and it held up to 20kg of luggage.
Lee said he had come up with the idea to get pockets sewn into an old coat for storage when he was flying to Ireland.
While tickets for the flights were £14, it was going to cost him between £6 and £8 each way for baggage fees.
A local tailor thought the idea was so much fun she made the coat for free, saving him even more money.
Talking about his walk through the airport, Lee said: “My initial reaction was we’re not going to get away from this.
“I literally got everything I needed, a change of underwear, clothes…toothpaste.
“From check-in to security, to getting on the plane, there was no reaction and I was quite surprised.
“It was simple.”
He admitted he had since used the coat on several more trips.
Lee added: “The savings just multiply.”
